Decorating a nursery? Start with a children's rug

Give your little one a warm welcome in a freshly decorated nursery. Create a comfortable surface for playing and lying down with a lovely rug on the nursery floor. In this blog, we share a few tips to keep in mind when you're looking for a children's rug!

Rock-a-bye baby

When decorating the nursery, there are a few things to consider. First, the layout of the room. Start by deciding where the cot will go. Make sure there's enough space around it and that it isn't placed next to a radiator or under a window. Since the cot is the centrepiece of the nursery, give it an extra special touch by placing a beautiful children's rug underneath it. Safety first

Because besides the layout, safety in the nursery is also hugely important. Besides the risk of tripping, you obviously don't want to slip while holding your little one in your arms either. Before your baby takes their first steps, movement mostly consists of rolling and crawling. Your little one rolls just that bit more comfortably on a lovely, soft surface. That's why a pleasant, soft rug is the best fit for the nursery, one your baby can happily roll, crawl and lie on (and where you can rest for a moment too, after a short night!).

But besides these practical matters, a rug in the nursery is above all a great source of inspiration for your baby's dreams. Did your little one do plenty of pirouettes in your tummy during pregnancy? Encourage those dance moves and choose a rug with a lovely ballerina on it! Do you have a feeling your baby might grow up to be a rockstar or an astronaut? Create a mini walk of fame in the nursery by choosing a rug with stars or aliens on it. Can you see in your baby's eyes that you've got a real little dreamer on your hands? Spark that imagination even further with a rug full of unicorns, dinosaurs or mermaids. Animals are also always welcome guests in the nursery. Rugs with elephants, dogs, giraffes, bears and even penguins are extremely cuddly and create a cosy menagerie in the nursery.
